A new era for EX

Managing employee experience (EX) requires a scientific approach that uses proven behavioural science and psychometric techniques. Although many organisations have made significant investments in EX programmes over recent years, problems such as poor data quality, limited trust, lack of employee ownership and disappointing ROI continue to exist.

Welliba has developed a completely new approach to managing EX. Below are key reasons why our approach can start a new era for EX.

The best of behavioural science, applied to EX

Welliba’s approach to managing EX is based on the latest research. It uses new insights from studies into EX, positive psychology, employee engagement, wellbeing, resilience and people leadership.

A new and holistic model of EX

Most current EX models are outdated or incomplete. Our model defines employee experience as ‘how people experience their work and life, which is the result of the interaction between their characteristics and their environment’. Our research has uncovered the intrinsic drivers of EX (self-insight) and mapped external contextual boosters and blockers (context insight) that influence EX.

The Welliba Index monitors EX and tracks its evolution over time.

The Index is shaped by a combination of internal factors (12 dimensions linked to a person) and external factors (7 dimensions linked to context). Organisations can use their dashboard to get more detailed information on all the dimensions underlying the Index. This enables organisations to understand why their Index score is evolving, to predict how it will change in the future, and to develop people initiatives to manage these changes and improve EX in a given context.

Next generation measurement for highest quality data

Data can be collected via a traditional survey, or via the CadaMint process (continuous adaptive micro-interactions).  This is a new scientific approach which uses micro-interactions to continuously collect data. Rather than collecting a lot of data at once and using that data for longer periods of time (like traditional surveys), the CadaMint approach constantly updates datasets by collecting more or newer data to measure what is happening.

EX fluctuates and is influenced by many conditions. Asking employees a few well-targeted questions per day, will provide additional insights. This helps organisations to better understand what is going on. CadaMint also makes it possible to give employees immediate insights into what is shaping their experience every day, along with advice on how to improve that experience.

We also use a modern and highly visual UX approach to motivate people to provide relevant answers. Personalised insights and advice are provided using these same UX techniques.

Privacy by Design

Privacy by Design means that privacy is incorporated into the technical and organisational design of a solution. This enhances the capacity of the solution to comply with high-level data protection standards. It allows individuals to trust the solution and therefore, be more honest when answering questions about their experience, which will lead to more accurate conclusions and feedback.

Linking EX to business outcomes

We have extensively analysed the strength of the link between our EX model and relevant business outcomes. Regression and correlation analyses helped us identify how our model relates to the key business metrics that organisations are struggling to predict. We detected when an employee’s Welliba score is high, they are 10 times less likely to quit, 5 times less likely to take sick leave, and 14 times more likely to have a high employee net promoter score (eNPS).

We used these insights to develop a dashboard that allows organisations to connect their own EX initiatives to their business outcomes. This makes it easier for organisations to detect what EX initiatives are needed, to monitor their impact, and to evaluate their ROI.

White paper

Organisations can only thrive when their employees thrive. Organisations already invest a lot of time, money and effort into keeping employees healthy and productive. However, despite all these efforts, absenteeism and attrition are increasing, whilst productivity and wellbeing are decreasing. Most current approaches have three major shortcomings: they are conceptually incomplete, lack user-centricity, and suffer from poor data quality.

This paper suggests three remedies:

A model of employee experience that is more conceptually complete because it includes the ‘self’, the context in which the ‘self’ works and lives, and the way self and context influence each other.
Becoming more user-centric by measuring employee experience as a subjective experience at the individual level and by targeting interventions based on individual needs.
Ongoing measurement using insights from research on persuasive technology and data privacy to improve data quality.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Paper

In this white paper, we discuss how improving employee experience (EX) can help diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) overcome some of its traditional challenges by shifting the focus to individual employees. And more importantly, why implementing such a new approach may be much less complicated than it seems with Welliba’s employee experience management platform-EX+.
